1) Agamben G. The future Community. Bollati Boringhieri, Turin, 2001

What identifies, defines us as a society? Or rather, what characterizes the society that we are about to develop, the "future community"? It is not the individual or collection of individuals but the "whatsoever" or rather, Agamben writes, "The Whatsoever in question does not, in fact, consider distinctiveness in his indifference to a common property (a concept, for example: being red, french, muslim), but only in his being that what he is. With this, distinctiveness breaks away from the false dilemma that requires knowledge to choose between the ineffability of the individual and the intelligibility of the universal". The disease of the future century won't be so much the indifference of an individual towards another, but the individual who becomes generically uniform drowning himself in the sea of "impropriety" and therefore of poverty. "The future being: neither individual nor universal, but whatsoever".

2) Castoriadis C. The imaginary institution of society. Bollati Boringhieri, Torino, 1995.

The theoretical work of Castoriadis is brought to life through a politial project aimed at the realization of individual and collective autonomy, centred on a radical understanding of democracy. In this book it is argued that the philosophical and political conjectures of such a project are beyond every alleged ‘rational foundation', that is they are not limited to inspiring politics in the application of a theory of the essence of society and history. The way of being of the « social-historical » is not a functional and strumental rationality, but the imaginary as a creative force of collective meanings and means through which the socialization of individuals takes place. Social change involves radical discontinuities that cannot be understood in terms of deterministic causes presented as a sequence of events. Change emerges through social imaginary.

3) Milani L. Letter to a Professor. Libreria Editrice Fiorentina, 1996, Florence

A unique educational experience for the young people of the small community of Barbianche, for geographical and economic reasons, they were at a great disadvantage compared to their peers of the city. The school immediately raised objections and much criticism, the attacks were many, both from the world of the church and the secular world. The replies to these criticisms were given in "Letter to a Professor", a book written by the students of the school together with don Milani (and in fact, "the School of Barbiana" is shown as author of the book), which explained the principles of the School of Barbiana and at the same time was an indictment of the traditional school, described as "a hospital that cures the healthy and rejects the sick", in so far as it didn't strive to recuperate and help kids in trouble, instead of rewarding those who already had a positive family background, exemplifying this kind of student with the character of "Pierino, the doctor's son" (that is Pierino, son of a doctor, who already knows how to read when he starts elementary school.
